Innovation and financial performance

Summary/Abstract: Innovation is one of the key factors determining the development and success of businesses. One of the most commonly used, widely-known of and accepted measures used to assess these objectives is financial performance. The purpose of this article is to explore the relationship between the level of innovativeness of enterprises and their financial performance. An empirical study based on a sample of 45 innovative public and private companies. Assessment of this relationship was carried out using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients. The results, although inconclusive, do not give reason to conclude that innovative enterprises achieve higher financial results. This state of affairs can be consequence of innovation intensity level implemented by enterprises and economic development.
