Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problem of cooperation between science and the business sector, as the cross-sector partnerships, which is necessary for the commercialization of knowledge and effective transfer of technology. Both, companies and research units recognize the need for cooperation. However, currently used solutions do not meet the expectations of both groups. Despite the declaration of the need to use knowledge in the creation of new products or solutions, the representatives of both communities emphasize the significant impact of restrictions that hinder the smooth functioning of cooperation. The article defines the concept of cross-sector partnerships, identified the main barriers to creating an effective system of technology transfer and commercialization of knowledge, and proposes a model of trilateral cooperation, which aims at overcoming some of the shortcomings identified in this area.
