Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the expression {groch z kapustą} [lit. cabbage and peas], seen integrally as a unit of language. The author discusses the lexicalization process on the basis of available texts and historical dictionaries. The construction in question is also considered from the synchronic point of view, its syntactic properties and possible collocations being subject to analysis (verbal collocations, attributive and metatextual reference exponents).
