Summary/Abstract: The religious music based on the liturgical hymns is a very important chapter in the Christian Orthodox Church. After 1700, the Orthodox Church in Transylvania has faced many problems and the byzantine tradition and sacred music from here suffered many changes. In the XIXth century, with the adivce of Saint Andrei Şaguna, the priest Dimitrie Cunţanu started to collect and to wrote the main hymns in the Orthodox Religious Ceremonies. The work od Dimitrie Cunţanu was very good, and his songs were thought in the theological schools since today in Transilvania by Timotei Popovici, Vasile Petraşcu, Gheorghe Şoima, Ion Popescu, Ioan Brie, Vasile Grăjdian, Vasile Stanciu, Domin Adam and others. All these teachers have published many books that contain the religios tradition made by Dimitrie Cunţanu.
