Summary/Abstract: Since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 10, 1948, human rights have become a legitimate international category, i.e. they have ceased to be solely the internal legal responsibility of individual states (domaine reservé).
