Summary/Abstract: Medical documents and other registry materials which appear during the work of this institution have immeasurable significance in the functioning of medical service and advanced training of medical staff, and also in the development of medicine in treating numerous of diseases. The institution keeps lots of medical and other types of documents, which are placed in 10 offices in central archive and archives in clinics and policlinics. During one year in the work of medical service 5.000-9.000 histories of diseases, and obout 50-100 various of records for medical documentation appear. In the functioning of the complex system of the institution, care and protection of documents which appear, significant role has an archival service.Certainly, a significant role and contribution in the work of archival service has and gives an authorized Archive of Tuzla County over its representatives.Work of archival service would be more efficient if the conditions for placement and protection of documents were better. For the needs of central archive of the institution it is neccessary to have one appropriate space at one place with an appropriate equipment. Documents which appear in the clinics and sectors in the expiration of their operative usage do not have to be kept in the archives, but they could be given to the central archive where they would be placed and arranged according to regulations. In this manner registry materials of the institution could be regularly arranged and other procedures from archival activity that are predicted by archival legacy, which regulates archival and official affairs, can be carried out. Medical documents should be arranged in registers in order to be in function. Only this way all these who submit demand for achieving their rights can be satisfied. Finally, in order that the institution could successfully accomplish its function, and justify the role that has in the society, it is obliged to pay an attention to archival business in the sense of modernization and keeping up with medical and archival contemporary flows. Only thus it is possible to achieve neccessary goal and that is a complete protection of medical and other documents which are neccessary for the needs of science, as well as the society in general.
