Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the music-making practice in the circles of Lithuanian freemasons, describes the local features of masonic musical culture, estimates the impact of the masonry on the general context of musical culture, and stresses the significance of music within the masonic initiation rites. One must conclude that the musical activities of Lithuanian masons were strongly influenced by the musical traditions of German and French masons and thus conformed to the Western standards of masonic musical culture. On the other hand, it was their democratization that incited the early tendency towards democratization of Lithuanian musical culture. The emphasis on enlightenment, prevalent in the social ideology of the time, is admitted to be one of the most distinctive characteristics of Lithuanian masonic musical culture. In the process of this research, historical survey was the main focus of author's attention.
