Scientific works of Krzysztof Kluk as quoted in S.B. Linde’s {Dictionary of the Polish Language} [‘Słownik języka polskiego’]

Summary/Abstract: The works of Krzysztof Kluk, a naturalist from Ciechanowiec, constituted an important source for S.B. Linde’s {Dictionary of the Polish Language}. The lexicographer of the Enlightenment stated in the preface that he had used the first editions of Kluk’s works while compiling the dictionary. Similar information may be found in S. Hrabec and F. Pepłowski’s study on authors and works cited by Linde in his dictionary. Nevertheless, a comparison of quote locations with re-editions of Kluk’s works enables the author to conclude that in the case of three volumes of the handbook {Rośliny potrzebne} Linde had made use of other editions than those indicated in the preface.
