R&D Financing and Innovations in the Context of the Socio-Economic Development

Summary/Abstract: Innovation is the driving force behind the modern economy and it requires increasing the expenditure on the research and development sphere. It will allow ideas, initiatives and discoveries to be realized in practice. In the future, they will determine the growth and the socio-economic development of nations. This article describes the funding for research and development in selected European countries. The level of outlays and their structure in each country were analysed. Poland is compared with other European countries and the impact of R&D expenses on the economy is discussed.
