Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the traditional Western paradigms and alternative body concepts. While detecting traditional subjugation of the body to the concept of the spirit and its translation into speech, it deals with the continual inscriptions of the social or philosophical paradigms into both everyday body consciousness and performing/theatrical body. Language is understood as an agency for production and embodiment of norms. The paper also shows to the language’s inadequacies while trying to point to different possibilities of understanding and using/having/being a body.
