Summary/Abstract: The Republic of Croatia, 1 July 2013, became a twenty-eighth member of the European Union, following the seventh widening of integration. Going through a long and difficult new negotiating procedure still not adapted its economy to the requirements of the group. Undoubtedly, directly influenced by the economic crisis began in 2007, but also the armed conflicts in the territory of Yugoslavia in the last decade of the twentieth century did not suport her. The determination of whether Croatia reinforced or weakened EU does not possibile with many different aspects. But it can not called Croatia as „second Greece” as accepted to sign in newspaper articles immediately after the EU enlargement.
