Summary/Abstract: The research is aimed at detailed reflection on an interrelation which is not actually understandable by itself - the ambiguous bond between "intellectual" and "marginal". Here, it will be observed at three levels which could be defined as three dimensions of marginality, with respect to the specific context: a) the hesitations of modern Bulgarian culture between the self-awareness of marginality and the attempts to overcome it (since the Liberation (1878) until nowadays); b) the effect of marginality, created for some political and social-cultural reasons within the Bulgarian culture around some of its representative intellectuals; c) marginality as a problem of the intellectual being.
