Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to comparative analysis of motives of deception and trickery in Azerbaijani and Arab epic tales. The comparison has been conducted in a number of Azerbaijani epic literature examples, such as “Koroghlu”, “Kitaby Dada Gourgud” as well as examples of Arab epic literature, such as “Ali Zibagh”, “Zat al - Himmah” and etc. Finally, as concluded as a result of the comparison, while the storyline and events involving deception and trickery varies greatly in the examples of epic literature in both languages, it is always that the light defeats the darkness and the good defeats the evil.
