Summary/Abstract: The issue of the accession of the Republic of Turkey to the European Union has for over ten years been debated upon by the Member States. The main question to which an answer is sought concerns the consequences of Turkey joining the EU. Both the possible positive aspects of Turkey’s accession are mentioned (mostly by its proponents) and the negative ones (mostly by the entities which oppose Turkey’s membership). The consequences which EU enlargement to include Turkey would have for Poland are perhaps worth considering, as the main question is whether Turkish accession would bring more benefits or more losses to the Polish state. Turkey’s EU accession will entail certain costs, incurred not only by the Germans, the Dutch or the French, but also by the Poles. Further more on the economic and the cultural factor.
