Summary/Abstract: The museum MCDR Deva organized between the end of August and the beginning of October 2008, the field prospection for the Highway project (Fourth European Corridor). The prospection followed the highway two segments, across the Hunedoara County: Lugoj – Deva (km 54+400 – 99+634) and Orăştie – Sibiu (km 0+000 – 6+050).We identified 11 new archaeological sites and 13 new locations of archaeological interest, situated on the territory of eight villages and one town. Some of these sites, based on many and various archaeological finds, indicate settlements where human activities were recorded for most of the prehistoric and historic times. These data come to prove once again the fact that the Mures Valley was inhabited from earlier times to present days. Therefore it is strongly necessary that the preventive archaeological research precede the construction of the highway
