Summary/Abstract: The paper presents basic biographical and bibliographical information about Halil İnalcık, PhD who died on July 25, 2016 in Istanbul. Professor İnalcık is one of the most important historians of the Ottoman period in the world’s history. During his above-average lifetime, he left a huge literary work that represents the guideline in further research in the field of Ottoman studies. The work also contains several data about İnalcık’s writing methodology as well as information on works that are important to the Ottoman history of the Balkans.
