Summary/Abstract: Belonging to imponderables, social capital is nowadays considered as one of the most important factors in social and economic development. Its resources are translated intothe realm of functioning of institutions, which is connected with reconstruction and reproductionof social order as well as structures and processes. As J. Przybysz and J. Sauś rightly point out, socialcapital is on the one hand a factor creating a new social reality, and on the other hand it is an elementthat stabilises it (Przybysz, Sauś 2004: 33). However, the capital has to be constantly repeated, whichis not easy, in order to be able to fulfil its assigned tasks. The capital in fact “increases” slowly, whileits destruction occurs quickly and is very often irreversible. Therefore, reflection upon the way howto support social structures responsible for creation of such a common good, which is social capital,is so important. The article presents selected social structures taking part in this laborious process of(re)building social capital.
