Summary/Abstract: The considerations discussed in the article relate to the issue of working with the local community:social animation, social work, community work, community organising, social revitalisationor regeneration. Central issue is the animation based on the use of community resources throughpurposeful intervention. The applied prospect of impact is of a pedagogical intervention nature, namely the process of transforming the environment (through the social and educational impact)with human/social efforts in the name of ideals (subjectivity and agency). The intent and purposeof engagement is, in the case of thus defined pedagogical approach, always some kind of an emancipatoryclaim of an animator/educator, who while “intervening” in the selected part of the social/public reality perceives in it injustice, inequality, domination or exclusion. Hence, a fundamentalaxis of the argument is a reflection on the arriving at social subjectivity and agency symbolisedwith the concept of empowerment.
