Efficacy of Ritual and Sacralisation: Two Gaps in Literary Studies

Summary/Abstract: Paradoxically, since the end of the Second World War, the sensation of disaster and of the powerlessness of Literature goes along with an increasing production of books. Why does the printed book still fascinate and lead to such an exponential creation? The answers to these can be found in two aspects underrated in literary studies: the efficacy of ritual due to the specific organization of Literature, and the role that creative writing/ reading can play in a process of sacralisation, which leads to a re-enchantment of the world.
