Summary/Abstract: This article aims to present the evolution of the reception of the literary work of one of the most beloved British writers of all times: Jane Austen. Having quite a limited financial success and dissemination during the author’s life, Jane Austen’s books survived two centuries of literary criticism to be rediscovered by the feminist movement at the beginning of the 20th century and transposed into the most diverse and unexpected form of cultural manifestation. At the beginning of this century, Jane Austen’s work managed to gain an indisputable place in literary history and the author holds a unique position in the modern world.
