The metodology of icon St. Haralambie and St. Nicolas restoration

Summary/Abstract: The icon represents Saints Nicholas and Haralambie. Because of the massive attack of the xilophagus (woodeating) insects the wooden support has been damaged and got a spongy appearance. For the stabilization of the wood there have been made resin (paraloid B72) impregnations and the missing corners of the icon have been replaced with strips of stabilized linden wood using the "parquetry" method. The painting layer presented detachments and gaps that have been restored.
