Mechanisms for supporting renewable sources of energy in Poland to 2020

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present mechanisms for supporting renewable sources of energy used in Poland. The first part of the paper characterizes the mechanisms for supporting renewable sources of energy. The second part presents the characteristics and the development of the mechanisms for supporting renewable sources of energy in Poland. The third part of the paper presents selected advantages and disadvantages of the mechanisms for supporting renewable sources of energy. The paper ends with conclusions. All mechanisms have both advantages and disadvantages. It seems that the obligation of energy purchase and the distribution of funds by type of RES installations are the main advantages of support mechanisms. Lack of continuity of public policy in the field of support mechanisms for renewable sources energy producers should be classified as major disadvantages. Uncertainty as to the form and type of assistance may result in inhibition of new investments in the entire sector.
