Current trends of relationships between eco- nomy and environment in Poland in a pressure – state – response framework

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the issue of relations between the economy and the environment in Poland, in the years 1988–2014. The specific objective of this article is the recogniction of the impact of two occuronaces on these relationships: the global financial crisis and the organization of finals of the UEFA European Football Championship Euro 2012 by Poland. The study was conducted in three areas: the pressure of the economy for the environment, state of ecosystems, and actions taken by the public in the field of environmental protection. There are three synthetic indicators appropriately designed for the analysis in each of these areas. The results of research and analysis indicate the existence of relations between the two examined occurances and the evolution of the economy-environment relations in Poland.
