Summary/Abstract: This research focuses on the traces of the cult of the Genii in an important rural settlement pertaining to the ancient Roman region of today Hunedoara county, Micia (a vicus that most likely constituted the centre of an autonomous civitas), in the light of 8 ancient epigraphic monuments, revisited and commented here. These testimonies were analyzed from both a historical perspective and a philological one, in order to establish the types and diffusion of Genii in a relevant case of non-urban community from Roman Dacia. For some of the inscriptions we have opted for a different approach in the interpretation of their meaning than the one generally assumed in previous publications (CIL III, 1338 = IDR III/3, 139; CIL III, 1365), while for others, we tried to demonstrate their function relating the text to the monuments (IDR III/3, 70-71).
