Summary/Abstract: Some of the basic formulations and principles, connected with the compilation of the Regional Calendar of Feasts in Silistra county are dealt with in this article. Elucidation of the problem of the relationship and connection between the common national and regional features in a contemporary system of feasts and rituals is an obligatory methodical prerequisite in compiling such a calendar. In the spirit of the principles, accepted and adduced as motives by the author the following essential requirements are recommended in compiling a Regional Calendar: a) it should reflect the actually existing system of feasts and rituals in the present day; b) it should strive to include to the maximum the progressive traditional heritage in the existence of feasts observed by the population of the region; c) confirming the present-day structure and composition of the system of feasts and rituals, it should particularly reflect its new dimensions; d) the selection of calendar feast days and celebrations should take place from definite class and ideological positions. The article considers questions of the selection of socio-political, labour-professional, traditional calendar-existential and other feasts included in the Regional Calendar of Silistra county. Certain problems concerning the structure of the calendar, the names and dates of the feasts and celebrations are also elucidated. The notes, recommending and elucidating the ideological sense, the forms and content of the feasts and celebrations marked in the calendar, are briefly characterized.
