From Precarity to Projectariaty. The Unwanted Child of Globalization and the Counterculture

Summary/Abstract: The article systematises debates over the causes and consequences of the precarization of employment. Taking as its starting point the recent works of Guy Standing and Kuba Szreder, two narratives explaining the changes in the sphere of work are compared. Also discussed is the experience of the projectariat, those working in the art world whose lives epitomize the New Spirit of Capitalism, being forced to constantly move from project to project. The text concludes with an analysis of an unconditional basic wage as one proposal for exceeded the precaritized condition of people working in late capitalism.
