Summary/Abstract: Antitrust bodies worldwide consider as their highest priority the investigation and prosecution of the cartels. Only in the last decade, antitrust bodies have achieved great results in the detection, investigation and prosecution of "hard-core" cartels. However, during implementation of the investigation and prosecution of the cartels we are often faced with obstruction of an investigation by members of the cartel. It is important to emphasize that the obstruction of cartel investigation is a blockade for the successful implementation of the cartel law. This scientific research shows complex problems of obstruction of justice in cartel investigations which are discussed in following parts: 1. Definition and types of obstruction; 2. Why is processing of obstruction important? 3. Why are only a few cases of obstruction of cartel investigations processed? We can conclude that the obstruction of justice indeed occurs in cartel investigations and that antitrust bodies in many countries can directly process certain forms of obstruction.
