Summary/Abstract: This is the first part of Gheorghe Grigurcu's dissertation on Constantin Noica's book "Pages on Romanian Spirit "first published in 1944. It comprises a few essays related to the philosopher's major thesis. Starting from the complex of minor cultures Noica revolts against Romania's rurality, he refuses "the Eternal Romania" and stands for a changing. Although Noica states this claim for the necessity of a major turn towards modernity, he seems to contradict himself by giving examples that argue rather for the rural Romania than for a modern spirit.
