Summary/Abstract: With reference to Alior Sync, the first fully virtual bank to operate in Poland, the paper describes the new trends and technologies shaping business models for selling financial products and emphasises the considerable growth potential for Internet banking both in Poland and throughout the world. Multichannel banking is treated as the basic banking business model for the purposes of the paper. Social media banking and banking that is fully virtual are distinguished. The paper regards new technologies as those that generate new, hitherto unavailable functionality in Internet banking, including market-analysis tools serving to tailor the services offered by banks to shifts in demand.
