Summary/Abstract: Modal Uses of the Future perfect progressive in the Romance Languages, especially in French and Italian. The article focuses on one aspect of the verbal system of the Romance languages may seem marginal : modal uses of the Future perfect progressive. However, the analysis shows that there is no verb tenses « marginal ». Temporal and modal values of the verbe are in fact organized as a system in wich all elements are fixed, since the functions are distributed : this distribution is different from one language to another and also varies (sometimes significantly) in the history of one language evolution. In explaining these variations, the study analyzes the cases in which the translation is not possible from one language to another.
