Socially responsible investment funds in Europe – development trends

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to assess the size and dynamics of the socially responsible investments sector in Europe. Study concentrates on analyzing the activity of investment funds available to retail investors due to objective nature of the source data and rigorous definition of responsible investments with regard to such funds. The research confirms the dynamic increase in the size of SRI investments, especially during the period following the global financial crisis. Significant geographical variations are observed, however. Favorable legal regulations are noticed as important incentive supporting the growth of SRI investments in leading countries.
