New Eneolithic and Neolithic Settlements Discovered in Timiş County

Summary/Abstract: The subject of the present study is the presentation of the archaeological investigations results carried out in Timiş County area within 2009-2015. Among the most interesting discoveries are those found in Hodoni – 3 site from where numerous pottery fragments attributed to Tiszapolgár culture and Banat culture come from Tiszapolgár materials were also discovered in Obad – 1 settlement. The pottery fragments found in Giarmata Vii – 3 site were also assigned to Eneolithic period, more precisely to Bodrogkeresztúr culture. Other spectacular archaeological materials were discovered at Sânmartinu Sârbesc – 9. Here in addition to pottery typical for the Bronze Age, the 3rd-4th centuries AD and the Middle Ages, pottery specific to phase C of the Vinča culture has been identified. One of the pieces found here that worth mentioning is the amulet with four arms arranged around a vertical axis in right angle. The pottery fragments discovered in Giarmata Vii – 3 site.
