The city and two fundamental necrologies

Summary/Abstract: The accurate examinations of the “intellectual necrologies”, however, reveals a close connection between the first “necrology” of death of God and the second necrology, that of the death of Geography. It is argued that the concept of divine vision has been transformed into the concept of impersonal, objective, neutral Eye. It is the concept that stands as necessary condition of objective geographical and cartographical description of a city. Consequently, it is described how the critique of the concept of impersonal Eye could lead towards non-geographical (“trajectographical”) interpretation of a city.
