Summary/Abstract: The realist school of thought holds that nation-states are the main actors in internationalrelations, and that the main concern of the field is the study of power. Realistsemphasized the importance of “the national interest”, and they said that “themain signpost that helps political realism to find its way through the landscape ofinternational politics is the concept of interest defined in terms of power”. Theseterms are typical for geopolitics. For example, the category of the international positionof the state is an answer for a question about the place of the state in the internationalbalance of power. Countries are usually keeping oneself appropriately totheir positions what allows to predict their future actions. State’s international position is a synthesis of a sector powers and a perception of the country by each otherand by oneself.
