Summary/Abstract: The article describes the discussion on naming the idea of sustainable development, which takes place in Poland. No consensus on this matter gives a pretext for some skeptics to acknowledge a new development model for the concept dull, vague, only postulate, unscientific. Carefully read the rules of grammar and word- meaning phrases used to determine the Polish equivalent of sustainable development leads to the conclusion that the best definition of the term rozwój trwały.
