Summary/Abstract: The article considers a number of problems related to the operation of rail transport in South Ukraine in the mid-40s of the XX century. Material damage caused to the industry, and features of recovery strategy of Odessa railway are characterized here. The author analyzes the factors that complicated the process of normalization of traffic, and priority areas of restorative work. Specifically, Soviet methods of transport infrastructure management are analyzed here. The article reveals the results of development companies and business units of the Odessa railway during the first post-war five-year plan.
