Summary/Abstract: The present research brings into light two musical scores recently composed – orfeuridice, ballet for chorus and chamber ensemble written by Şerban Marcu and The Lyre of Orpheus, choreographic poem written by Tudor Feraru. The two composers are young members of the Transylvanian contemporary composition school, both disciples of Cornel Ţăranu. The analytical and comparative approach highlights the particularities of musical language, structure and creative view towards the Ancient myth of Orpheus in the two works mentioned above. The research also focuses on the staging of the two works, comparing the choreographic perspectives of Melinda Jakab, who choreographed the two works, the particular use and significance of symbols and message involved both in music and dance.
