Summary/Abstract: Located in the heart of Europe, with a good geographical location and rich natural resources, Ukraine is a buffer between Russia and the ambitious Western world, forced to continuous use of double standards in its political activity under the influence of factors which are not always the Ukrainian national interests. National idea is the factor that protects the Ukrainians against denationalization, defines the nature and prospects of development of the Ukrainian nation. Poland supported Ukraine in its quest for the then EU and NATO, and monitor events and the course of the presidential elections in Ukraine in January 2010, has the side closer institutional cooperation of the EU with Ukraine. According to political scientists, Ukraine also had a chance to become one of the leaders of the Eastern Partnership in the former Soviet space and thus strengthen its role as a regional leader under the auspices of the EU. But the only possible way for Ukraine to acquire membership in the EU would be reforming social life as a result of the cooperation within the Eastern Partnership.
