Summary/Abstract: Prof. Albert Bartoszewicz first co-operated with the Department of Russian Philology in theHigher Pedagogical School (in the mid-80s of the 20th c.), later founding the Chair of Eastern SlavicStudies. It is thanks to his initiative and determination that it was established. When more doctorshabilitated had been employed, the Chair transformed into the Institute of Eastern Slavic Studies.Prof. Bartoszewicz initiated a series of international Slavic conferences, which have been organised inOlsztyn biennially until today. He also found it extremely important to cooperate with the ImmanuelKant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad. He established Acta Polono-Ruthenica, a scientificjournal published in Olsztyn. Not only a scientist, but also a teacher, he was a supervisor of a fewdozen MA students and several Ph.D. candidates.
