Summary/Abstract: The author discusses Lupold von Bebenburg (about 1297–1363). He describes his life and emphasizes his canon law education in Bologna and his career in Würzburg, where he lived until he was appointed Bishop of Bamberg in 1353. He remained Bishop of Bamberg until his death ten years later. As for Bebenburg’s works, the author focuses on Bebenburg’s imperial writings, particularly his famous Tractatus de iuribus Regni et Imperii from 1340. The author analyzes this treatise in detail in its historical context and points out Bebenburg’s goal of improving the constitutional foundation of the imperial issue. This matter is also apparent in the famous Golden Bull of Charles IV from 1356, and Bebenburg is rightly considered one of the spiritual fathers of the Golden Bull.
