Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the existence of the notion of goodness in poetry and essays of post-war authors, such as Edward Stachura, Tymoteusz Karpowicz, Tadeusz Różewicz, Stanisław Barańczak, Czesław Miłosz and Anna Świrszczyńska. Overarching context for reflection is a fragment of a poem by Cyprian Kamil Norwid For Bronisław Z. ("From the things of this world are only two / two only: poetry and goodness... and nothing more..."), which are characterized by contemporary reinterpretations of both attitude affirmative (Tymoteusz Karpowicz, Stanisław Barańczak) and highly polemical (Tadeusz Różewicz).
