Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the issue concerning quality of education in the profession of Polish language teacher regarding it in the context of empowering students to acquire competencies required to implement individualization and activating methods in their everyday work with pupils and to acquire knowledge, skills and social competences consistent with requirements set by the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education, being adopted in a given degree programme. The consideration regards, among other things, provisions of the law, national education policy, as well as actions and practices (approaches) concerning individualization of education and activation of pupils and students. The attention was focused on the dependency and common or analogical conditions of didactics in tertiary and school education. It was pointed to the phenomenon of McDonalization in education as a significant cause for disharmony that occurs between theoretical assumptions and expectations in terms of the discussed aspects of teaching and teachers' work versus school and academic reality. In the article were critically assessed certain thorough solutions, being adopted in tertiary education within the framework of quality assurance systems functioning at universities, which adversely affect – among others – individualization of teaching and learning of students and lead to unfavourable uniformization, which supersedes valuable diversity.
