Summary/Abstract: Anania`s Version of the Bible in Romanian is not only the culmination of the unparalleled works of the poet, writer and theologian Metropolitan Bartolomeu, but a major event in Church. Scholar and hierarch Bartolomeu Anania considered the new edition of the Bible was, according to his own principles, not a simple "plus" to what existed already, but an imperative necessity. We are not referring to the quality of the translation alone, or to the paratext (introduction, notes, etc.), but, regarding the Old Testament, to the source of the translation i.e. the Septuagint. The translator and editor chose "the comparatist method", confronting this edition with other thirteen both Romanian and foreign relevant versions of the text, as well as original texts. Theologian and poet Bartolomeu Anania was a providential man who had the necessary skills to provide a versification of the poetic books of the Old Testament. Anania`s Version of the Bible is definitely a successful translation of the holy text: accurate, beautiful, clear and dignified; it enriches the understanding of the divine message with every page, and sometimes every line; besides providing a better understanding of the Bible, the text has literary and artistic qualities. Besides the actual biblical text, this Jubilee Edition of the Bible by Bartolomeu Anania is special due to the exquisite paratextual, isagogic and exegetical materials.
