Summary/Abstract: The current analysis raises the issue of the syntactic relations typology in contemporary Russian. The two complementary directions in the morphosyntactic research are discussed, which are the reductionist and the expansionist approaches. Following the formal syntactic criterion, the author introduces and then analyses thoroughly the opposition of two syntactic linkings: connection and innection. Connection is defined as a syntactic linking based on the primary linear co-occurrence of lexemes (as syntactems), while innection includes the adjustment of one element to the other, according to the formal grammatical rules. The presented analysis is illustrated by the linguistic material from contemporary Russian.
