Summary/Abstract: THE HOSPITAL FOR CONTAGIOUS DISEASES IN CRAIOVA WAS FOUNDED RATHER LATE BY THE CITYHALL, AT THE END OF THE 19TH CENTURY. UNTIL THEN THE CONTAGIOUS PATIENTS HAD BEENTREATED IN BARACKS IMPROVISED NEAR THE FILANTROPIA HOSPITAL.AT THE BEGINNING ITFUNCTIONED IN RENTED HOUSES AND IN 1900 THE CITY HALL BUILT A PAVILION FOR THECONTAGIOUS ON THE DOMAIN SITUATED ON ITS PROPERTY, IN BUCHAREST BARRIER, A PAVILION FORCONTAGIOUS CHILDREN BEING ADDED IN 1907, FROM PRIVATE INITIATIVE.
