Summary/Abstract: The leadership styles shown by managers who are the key element for success of organizations and their emotional intelligence levels are the main subjects of this study. Within this context, the aim of this study to examine the effect of emotional intelligence on leadership styles A questionnaire consisted of 111 statements were applied to 392 participants who work in banking sector as executives, assistant managers, division managers or upper positions. Findings gathered from data were assessed by descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, regression and correlation analyses. Consequently, it has been found out that emotional intelligence has a meaningful effect on leadership styles. As a result of findings, self-consciousness has the most meaningful effect on both leadership styles as transformational and transactional leadership. The emerge of leadership in practical is mostly connected with leaders who has self-consciousness.
