Gh. Pavelescu and I. R. Nicola ‒ Correspondences, affinities and ethno-cultural similarities

Summary/Abstract: The article is inspired by a short letter that I. R. Nicola wrote to Gh. Pavelescu, in 1953. Having an almost similar childhood and educational background, the two researchers have common research interests in the domain of folkloristic studies, the first one in ethnomusicology, the last one in folklore and ethnography. The influence of the family education specific to the Transylvanian rural area in the first part of the 20th century, the similarity of the primary and university education, as well as the cultural context and the influence of the monographic school of Dimitrie Gusti lead to evident cultural affinities.
