Summary/Abstract: Effective marketing campaigns are not accidental, they are the result of the work of people employed in this area. It is their knowledge, skills and social competences that determine success or defeat of undertaken action. The purpose of the paper is to identify competency requirements in the marketer’s profession, to confront the opinion of students and employers on this issue and to indicate the role of universities in preparing graduates to undertake work associated with this area.
