Summary/Abstract: The text portrays Stoyan Mihailovksi’s project of a philosophy of Bulgarian history, explains its origin and development, and makes a comparison with other projects proposed in the period between 1920 and 1944. Scrutinizing that project helps making out its conceptual problems, as well as its shady political consequences, thus enabling the introduction of the crucial concept of cultural paragon, which, in last analysis, determines the discursive structures of speaking of Bulgarian history and culture.
