Summary/Abstract: The study deals with the analysis of Slovak anoikonyms (minor place-names) with the conjunction a (and), which were mainly obtained by a questionnaire method in 1966–1975 and from MA theses, and compares how this type of anoikonyms is treated in Czech anoikonymic dictionaries. The author discusses whether these anoikonyms are proper names or just appellative descriptions. She recommends including in the dictionary entry with the conjunction a (and) of the Dictionary of Slovak Anoikonyms only anoikonyms containing also the preposition medzi (between), which indentify an object with the aid of two neighbouring objects (e.g. Medzi hradskou a jarkom, Diely medzi kanálom a potokom). They can be included in the transitional group of expressions names between proper names and appellative (or appellative-proprial) descriptions.
